When I gave away the cabinet that held my old stereo components and turntable, I found a collection of vinyl albums and 45s inside it. Among the stash was the 1984 K-tel compilation Body Moves—with a cover photo featuring tube socks and leg warmers.

Tube socks, leg warmers, and head bands. Can you tell it’s 1984?

Look closely underneath the bicycle. You can see the stand holding up the bike.

The cover art is laughable (even by 1984 standards), but I still enjoy many of the songs on the album:

Side One

  1. Irene Cara: Flashdance (What a Feeling)
  2. Kool & the Gang: Celebration
  3. Evelyn “Champagne” King: Shame
  4. Shalamar: The Second Time Around
  5. L.T.D.: (Every Time I Turn Around) Back in Love Again
  6. The Whispers: And the Beat Goes On
  7. Patrice Rushen: Forget Me Nots

Side Two

  1. Dazz Band: Let It Whip
  2. Rick James: Super Freak
  3. Diana Ross: I’m Coming Out
  4. Vicki Sue Robinson: Turn the Beat Around
  5. Stephanie Mills: Never Knew Love Like This Before
  6. Sister Sledge: We Are Family
  7. Pointer Sisters: He’s So Shy
